MIDDLESBROUGH will host their North-East neighbours, Sunderland, in a pre-season friendly.

The unconventional Tees-Wear derby will be staged at the Riverside Stadium on Friday, July 27 (7.30pm).

The game will take place eight days before both sides begin their respective campaigns in the Football League.

It will be Boro's only home game of their pre-season schedule, and will be Sunderland's final outing before they begin life in League One.

The two sides met on three occasions last season, with Boro winning their home games in the Championship and FA Cup, and the two sides playing out a dramatic 3-3 draw at the Stadium of Light in the league.

Tickets for Sunderland supporters will be available to Sunderland season-card holders only, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for Over-65s and Under-18s.

Middlesbrough will announced their ticketing details shortly.
