DURHAM continued to lose wickets steadily in the afternoon session as they battled to try to save their County Championship game at Sussex.
At 61, Tom Latham was bowled by Ollie Robinson through a narrow gate when he should have been forward.
At 77, Will Smith – again a crucial wicket – was brilliantly caught by Harry Finch at wide second slip, low down and right-handed off the bowling of David Wiese.
Four balls later, Paul Collingwood was lbw playing across a delivery from the same bowler.
It was 88 for five when Gareth Harte was well caught down the leg-side by Ben Brown off the bowling of Danny Briggs.
And the sixth wicket went down at 137 when Graham Clark was lbw to Briggs.
Once again an inexperienced Durham side looked vulnerable once the experienced batsmen had been dismissed.
