SUNDERLAND supporters have been warned that a pre-season training camp to Portugal will not be open to the public.
The Black Cats' preparations for life in the League One will begin when the players return to the Academy of Light on June 27.
They will then travel to Portugal and are set to play a non-competitive training game during the week-long trip.
But supporters have been advised the training venue, booked several months ago, does not have public access.
A club statement read: “The club apologises to those fans who had expressed an interest in travelling to Portugal, but unfortunately spectators cannot be accommodated on this occasion. We hope to rectify this for supporters in future seasons.”
New manager Jack Ross has put in place a programme of pre-season games. A number of local fixtures will allow fans to see the new-look team in action and the remaining games in the schedule are in the process of being finalised.
There will also be a game at the Stadium of Light before the start of the new campaign and that will be announced in the coming days.
Ticket details for the pre-season games will be available at www.safc.com
