Everton have won seven of the last eight league games with Newcastle United – including the last four on the spin – but I would be surprised if the visitors did not pick up at least a point from Monday night’s game at Goodison.

Hatem Ben Arfa’s goal was enough to give the Magpies three points back in September 2010. That was their sole win in their last 13 PL visits to Everton, however, and they have had a man sent off in their last two visits, which both ended in 3-0 home wins.

The Blues burgled the points at St James’s Park over Christmas and are 13/10 with BetVictor this time with United 5/2 and the draw 9/4.

Newcastle don’t have a great record on a Monday – losing ten on the bounce before winning at Stoke last time. Rafa Benitez’s side have gained 11 points from their last seven away league games – more than they picked up in their previous 22.

A game has a number of subplots with “Red Rafa” returning to Merseyside and former Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce under pressure at Goodison for the quality of football his side have served up since he took charge.

Benitez has won on his last four PL visits to Goodison and I feel he can make it five.

Wayne Rooney scored the only goal in the reverse fixture and has scored 15 PL goals against the Magpies for Manchester United and Everton.

Ayoze Perez has scored in three successive league games for the first time since 2014 - he has never scored four in a row before but is 16/5 with BetVictor to find a way past Jordan Pickford during the 90 minutes. That looks too big for such an in-form striker.

Middlesbrough need four points from their last two games to be guaranteed a place in the play-offs after a tremendous 2-1 win at Derby. Tony Pulis’s side are 4/1 to be promoted and 1/16 to finish in the top six ahead of the visit of promotion rivals Millwall on Saturday evening (5.30).

Both the Lions - who occupy the last play-off spot - and Boro will have one eye on the visit of Cardiff City to Derby’s Pride Park on Tuesday night, but the bottom line is that Boro are a better side than Millwall and are 19/20 to keep the points at the weekend.

Cardiff are 4/9 at BetVictor to gain the second automatic promotion spot (Fulham 13/8) and it looks as if Boro will entertain Aston Villa at the Riverside on Saturday May 12, with the reverse fixture the following Tuesday. Yes, I am sure all involved at Boro will suggest play-off talk is still premature, but Saturday’s result was huge.

Sunderland will be playing League One football next term – as expected – but when it happened, it could hardly have been more dramatic with Darren Bent grabbing an equaliser for Burton, John O’Shea hitting the bar and the Brewers grabbing an injury time winner. And there was still time for a home goal to be ruled out.

The Black Cats travel to Craven Cottage to meet in-form Fulham on Friday and let’s hope they give their away supporters something to cheer. Chris Coleman’s side are 21/2 to take the points back north.

Hartlepool finish their National League campaign at Prenton Park on Saturday against an in-form Tranmere side who are guaranteed second place in the table behind champions Macclesfield. Rovers are 11/8 to be promoted and it is possible that they will rest a few key players ahead of the play-offs.

Pools are unbeaten in their last three games and they are 19/4 at BetVictor to end the season in style and 3/1 to pick up a point on the Wirral.
