GARRY MONK has made ten changes to his Middlesbrough side for this evening's Carabao Cup third-round game at Aston Villa.

However, despite the extensive alterations, the Boro boss has still been able to name a strong side for the game at Villa Park.

Ben Gibson is the only player to retain his place from the team that kicked off Saturday's win over QPR, and the Boro skipper will be partnered by Daniel Ayala at the heart of the back four.

Dimi Konstantopoulos returns in goal, with Connor Roberts and George Friend filling the full-back positions.

There is a youthful look to the Boro attack, with former Shildon winger Lewis Wing named in the team along with fellow North-Easterner Marcus Tavernier.

Ashley Fletcher will start as a lone striker, with Patrick Bamford set to play off him in a 'number ten' role.
