It may be a case of saving the best to last at Doncaster today.

I have six rides, with Barwell looking the pick of them in the sunbets.co.uk Handicap.

This three-year-old has improved with each run and comes here on a hat-trick.

He was down to run at Beverley on Wednesday, but the ground was a touch too fast and he was pulled out. The forecast good going should be perfect for him at Doncaster, as will the galloping track.

Michael Dods’ horses are still flying and he has an obvious chance, especially if he keeps improving like we think he will.

My next best chance lies with our old favourite Get Knotted. I was very confident of his chance at York three weeks ago. He was on a similar mark to when he had won the same race 12 months ago and the fast pace suited him; everything was in his favour that day and he was a very easy winner.

He’s come out of the race really well and seems in great heart. He’s been put up 5lb for that effort, which is about right and he will have a fast pace to aim at. Again, I’m very hopeful. He runs in the sunbets.co.uk Youbetcha Handicap.

The old boy Desert Law is still going strong at the grand old age of nine. I rode him at Musselburgh last time and he ran well given the race wasn’t run to suit him.

Hopefully he will have a good strong gallop to aim at in the Like Sun Bets On Facebook Handicap. He’s on a fair mark and the track will suit.

It’s nice to be on another Simon Crisford-trained horse in the shape of Dark Rose Angel, who runs in the Follow Sun Bets On Instagram EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes.

She was fifth on her debut at Newmarket this month and you’d anticipate natural improvement from that. Simon’s horses are in cracking form too, with five winners from 20 runners.

I’m at Pontefract tomorrow, where I’ll pick out Lomu, who runs in the Ernie’s Handicap. He is three wins from four in his career, and I rode him to win on his seasonal return at Ayr in June and he will come on for that run. Keith Dalgleish’s horses are also running well so everything bodes well.

The Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival is one of my favourite weeks of the year. York is a wonderful track with terrific facilities and prize-money, and it never stands still.

Every race at the festival has minimum prize-money of £70,000 with a record £4.4m spread over the four days. It has Britain’s highest-rated race in the Juddmonte International, which looks like being a cracker this year, with the likes of Barney Roy, Churchill and Ulysses set to line up.

My preference would be for the 2,000 Guineas winner Churchill, whose only blemish came at Royal Ascot. You can always forgive a horse one run and perhaps the fast ground and hot weather got the better of him. The ground, as always, will be perfect at York and he comes here a relatively fresh horse.

Of course the race which will always be my favourite is the Coolmore Nunthorpe, having won it twice, courtesy of Mecca’s Angel. I think a filly will win it again this year in the shape of Lady Aurelia.

I can’t get out of my head just how impressive she was at Royal Ascot. Again, you need to be reasonably fresh to be at your best in this race and she will have been exerted less than most of the field.
