JONATHAN FRANKS has rejoined  Hartlepool United.

The winger left Victoria Park two years ago, but has been training with his former club after his departure from Ross County and has been a regular at the club’s Durham base in recent weeks.

He appeared for Pools in pre-season and was again among the squad working out at the Racecourse yesterday afternoon.

Boss Craig Harrison has already landed nine new players this summer and still wants a couple more.

“We are looking at positions all across the board,’’ he said. “If we can improve or bring something different, whether on loan, on a free, or a small fee, it is up to us.

“He (Franks)  can carry the ball and has trickery.

“We are always looking to add to the squad, something we always want to do. In the National League the transfer window is open most of the year around and on it and off it if we can improve in any way we will do that.’’

Pools are at Bromley tomorrow, opposition who put six past Leyton Orient in midweek.

Harrison’s side has yet to win in four games this season, with two draws and two defeats.

They took a point in midweek against Chester, a game which saw their best display of the season without being rewarded with a deserved win.

They fell behind after only 57 seconds and Harrison joked: “Tuesday was encouraging and it was good for 89 minutes, when the mistake happened I was expecting Jeremy Beadle to appear!

“But fair play to Scott (Harrison), he recovered well from it, pulled himself together and could easily, at a young age, crumbled and he didn’t. Credit where it’s due.

“The silly goal taints a very good performance. I said after the game we have to be more clinical in both thirds of the field.

“It’s far from good so far, but we look forward and build and improve on Tuesday and be ready for Saturday and build again.

“Results aren’t what we wanted, but I’m not getting down about it. It’s a long season, 42 games left when you look at it like that.

“We want to win regularly and first time it comes along then we go. There’s more positive signs than negative.’’

He added: “We are working ever so hard for a bit of consistency. Get that and build on it and we won’t be far away.

“Build-up play on the attack was positive on Tuesday, we got forward well. They had one effort late on which Scott (Loach) saved comfortably and in other games he’s had a few saves to make.’’

Rhys Oates and Luke George were training yesterday, but Harrison isn’t expecting the pair to be available for a couple of weeks yet.

“Blair Adams has a dead leg and will be assessed for Saturday and apart from that Rhys and Luke are close to a return,’’ he said.

“They won’t be ready for the weekend, I’d say more for the Maidstone game. It’s important after they both broke down twice that their rehab is done right and we get them right.’’
