AFTER our recent poll to select Darlington’s best-ever XI, we are giving supporters of the North-East’s four other leading teams the chance to choose their own club’s greatest all-time line-up.
This week, it is the turn of Newcastle United. From the glory days of the 1950s to the Fairs Cup triumph of 1969 and on to the thrills and spills of the ‘Entertainers’ era, Newcastle have boasted some legendary names.
But who deserves a place in the club’s greatest line-up? We have selected a shortlist of goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards – and want you to pick a team in a 4-3-3 formation.
Voting closes on Thursday, June 29, and the winning team will be published in next Saturday’s Northern Echo – along with the shortlist for Middlesbrough’s all-time greatest XI.
