MIDDLESBROUGH will mark their return to the Championship with a trip to Molineux to face Wolves.

Boro will kick off the new season at Wolves on August 5, before entertaining Sheffield United at the Riverside in their opening home game of the new campaign seven days later.

The first midweek fixture of the 2017-18 season will see Burton Albion travel to Teesside on August 15, and Boro will round off August with matches against Nottingham Forest and Preston.

There are six games in a busy September, with Boro’s home game with Norwich on September 26 likely to be one of the stand-outs, and the opening derby match of the new campaign will see Sunderland visit the Riverside on November 4.

Garry Monk will make his first return to Elland Road to face Leeds United on November 18, and December will begin with a long trip to Bristol City.

Boro are at home on Boxing Day, with Bolton Wanderers due to head to the North-East, and will also be in action at the Riverside on December 30 when they host Aston Villa.

Their first game of 2018 takes them to Preston on New Year’s Day, with the Wear-Tees derby at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light scheduled for February 24.

Leeds are the visitors to the Riverside on March 3, with Boro due to head to Derby County for what could be a pivotal game on April 21.

The final home game of the season will see Boro entertain Millwall on April 28, and the campaign will end with a trip to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town on May 6.
