GATESHEAD will finish the National League season in eighth position after their penultimate game ended in a resounding 4-0 win at Boreham Wood.
The Heed ended a run of four consecutive defeats as Wes York’s early half-volley provided an ideal start.
Luke Hannant doubled his side’s lead in the 25th minute, and while Gateshead spurned a number of decent chances to extend their advantage, they finally claimed a third goal with five minutes left as Manny Smith scored from close range.
There was still time for the visitors to claim a fourth goal, with Jamal Fyfield curling a superb strike into the corner deep in stoppage time.
Gateshead: Hanford, Bolton, Hogan, M Smith, Fyfield, G Smith, York (Wright 80), McLaughlin, Hannant, O’Donnell (Mafuta 67), Burrow.
