Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley says that every league win is vital over the closing weeks of the season.

Moors are at home to Halesowen on Saturday afternoon, having climbed up to fourth in the table with a 3-2 home win over Matlock on Tuesday night, their third successive win.

One of those victories was by 2-1 against today’s opponents three weeks ago, and Ainsley says’ “We’re in a dogfight with eight or nine other clubs to win a play off spot.

“Every win is vital now, and we must extend our winning run today. We’ve seen how tight the situation is at the moment, because we jumped four places in midweek courtesy of one win. We have a bit of form at present and want to continue that winning run, although Halesowen had a great result last weekend and will come here determined to take three points as both sides have lots to play for, which should make it an exciting game.

“We don’t want to slip back down the table again, that’s why we need to keep winning.”

Ainsley has two new signings in his squad this afternoon. Midfielder Connor Smith has arrived from Hartlepool, and left sided midfielder Isaac Baldwin from Halifax Town, the old club of Moors assistant manager Tommy Miller.

“We have a lot of games to play in this run in especially the week after next when we play Tuesday and Thursday, so we need to strengthen the squad.”

Centre half Joe Tait returns today after suspension, but striker Nathan Fisher is unavailable.
