AITOR KARANKA has challenged his Middlesbrough players to achieve the ‘dream double’ of FA Cup success and Premier League survival.

Boro will host either Manchester City or Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup quarter-finals after tonight’s draw handed the Teessiders a fourth successive home tie in this year’s competition.

Karanka’s side booked their place in the last eight on Saturday when Cristhian Stuani’s 86th-minute winner secured a dramatic 3-2 win over Oxford United.

Boro led by two goals at the interval thanks to successful strikes from Grant Leadbitter and Rudy Gestede, but conceded two goals in the space of 60 seconds before Stuani struck from close range to settle things.

The quarter-final will be staged on the weekend of March 11, meaning the potentially-decisive relegation battle with North-East rivals Sunderland will have to be rearranged for later in the season, but while some might view a protracted FA Cup campaign as a distraction from the more important business of staying in the top-flight, Karanka is confident his players can continue to battle on two fronts.

“I wanted to win the game (against Oxford),” said the Boro head coach. “I want to be in the semi-final, I want to be in the final, I want to win the Cup – and I want to be in the Premier League next season.

“The main thing is that we are in the draw, and three years ago, nobody could imagine that we could be in this position.

“Three years ago, I don’t think anybody could think that Middlesbrough could be in the Premier League, and play in the quarter-final of the FA Cup. So we have to be really pleased, we have to know that we must keep going together, and we have to try to keep the momentum.”

Huddersfield played out a goalless draw with Manchester City at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday, with the two sides due to play a replay at the Etihad Stadium a week on Tuesday.

Boro knocked Manchester City out of the FA Cup two seasons ago, with Patrick Bamford and Kike scoring in a shock 2-0 fourth-round win at the Etihad.

The Teessiders’ only previous FA Cup meeting with Huddersfield came in 1928, and resulted in a 4-0 defeat in West Yorkshire.

This evening's draw set up the intriguing possibility of an all-non-league quarter-final, with Lincoln City, who beat Burnley on Saturday, due to travel to Sutton United or Arsenal, who play their fifth-round tie tomorrow.

Chelsea host Manchester United in a clash of the Premier League heavyweights, with Tottenham entertaining Millwall in an all-London affair.
