Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley wants as much local support as possible when Moors take on Chorley for a place in the last qualifying round of the FA Cup today.

Chorley are fifth in the Vanarama National League North having lost just once this season, and Ainsley is hoping for a big crowd to give Moors such much-needed backing.

“This will be a very tough game for us. Coincidentally, I was at the Darlington v Chorley game earlier in the season which Chorley lost, and on that occasion it was obvious that they are a very good side that likes to move the ball around quickly,” he said.

“We will have to be at our best to beat them, and for them to have an off day. At least we won’t have the pressure of the league on us, we’re going into this game as underdogs. Hopefully, we’ll have a big crowd cheering us on, there’s nothing like the FA Cup to get people motivated.”

Moors go into the game on the back of a goalless draw at Blyth on Tuesday night in the league, and Ainsley said; “I thought we dominated the game apart from the first ten minutes, and we didn’t take our chances. But any midweek draw away from home is a good result in this league.”

Midfielder Mark Anderson, defender Joe Tait and striker Tom Craddock will all have fitness tests.
