ROCKLIFFE Hall is to host an England Under-16 Boys’ International this weekend.

The event, on September 24 and 25, is part of a series of Under-U16s internationals against the other Home countries. England won all three matches last year and have beaten Wales in this season’s series.

The team play Scotland at Rockliffe this weekend before heading to Ireland next month for the final game.

The team of ten includes Michael Gilbert (Chelmsford), who was in England’s winning team at the Boys’ Home Internationals and is the winner of the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters; Dominic Clemons (Gog Magog), the Scottish U14 boys’ champion; and Conor Gough (Stoke Park), the English U14 champion.

The match will comprise singles and foursomes on Saturday with a final singles session on Sunday morning.

Davy Cuthbertson, golf and estate director at Rockliffe, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming 20 very talented young golfers to Rockliffe Hall this weekend. It’s a pleasure to host the event and, who know, perhaps the next Nick Faldo or Colin Montgomerie is amongst them.”
