WATFORD have pulled off the £7m deal for Newcastle United full-back Daryl Janmaat.

The Holland international, who was rated at £10m by the Magpies, has agreed a four-year deal at Vicarage Road and is set to be replaced at St James' Park later today by Tottenham's DeAndre Yedlin.

Janmaat has been left out of Newcastle's last couple of matches ahead of a move and Watford have struck a deal for less than what they had been expecting to pay.

Janmaat told the Watford website: "I'm really happy to be here, it's a new adventure for me. I was really pleased that Watford showed interest in me because I wanted to play in the Premier League.

"We [Newcastle] lost three times to Watford last season. They had a good season and I hope we can do the same again this year.

"The club is showing great ambition and wants to improve, and I want to be part of that."

Newcastle, who are also close to offloading Tim Krul to Ajax on loan, are awaiting the go-ahead to announce a £5m deal for Yedlin, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland. He watched Tuesday's victory over Cheltenham in the EFL Cup.

Earlier today Newcastle allowed French midfielder Henri Saivet to return to his homeland on a season long loan.

Saivet has joined Saint-Etienne having only arrived at the beginning of the year during Steve McClaren's time in charge.

The nine-cap Senegal international arrived in January from Bordeaux but has made just four appearances to date and only two of those starts.

Saivet last featured for United at the start of February, when he stepped off the substitutes' bench for the final minute of a home victory over West Bromwich Albion.
