Whitby Town Football Club have received the support of a music legend as they prepare for their new season, and big summer music festival.

Gouldman, who inspired decades of hits songs was on hand to help launch the new strip for the Seasiders this week, ahead of the Coastline Festival at the Stables, Cross Butts on Saturday, August 6.

His band 10cc, and 70s music icons The Real Thing are proving to be hugely popular as the club continues to report healthy tickets sales for their family fun music festival.

Whitby chairman Grahan Manser said: “Graham has been brilliant in helping us with our big music show, and he has helped us in so many other way - even giving his seal of approval to our new shirt for the 2016/ 17 season.

“This event means so much to the club as it will help us shape the season ahead in terms of finance and investment.

“We are all on course for the big day, and now with the holiday season and some better weather finally arriving we are all thrilled with the support we continue to receive for The Coastline Festival.

“The fact that three other major festivals have fallen in the region in recent weeks just makes us even more grateful to the people showing us such terrific support and positive feedback ahead of the day.

“So much hard work has gone in from fans and people in the town - they all understand that finances inspired by this kind of event is so very crucial.’’

He added: “We are urging people to push us to a capacity crowd.

“It's really starting to get exciting now over the next few days the teams from across the country will arrive in Whitby to start assembling the stage and lighting.

“Everything will be in place soon, and we feel that numbers are about to get even bigger as the countdown starts.

“Songs such as I'm Not In Love, You To Me Are Everything, Dreadlock Holiday and Can't Get By Without You are huge tunes that mean so much to millions of people.

“The club just wants everyone to have a most memorable day. The local hotels in the town and surrounding areas have been booked out for months for the weekend so the atmosphere will be magical.’’

The Coastline Festival, headlining 10cc and The Real Thing, with supporting acts, takes place at The Stables, Cross Butts, Guisborough Road, Whitby on Saturday, August 6. Tickets cost £38 and VIP packages are available at £100.
