I could not have been happier to see Mecca’s Angel return to form in Ireland last Saturday.

She saw off a decent Group Two field and won comfortably by three lengths. What’s exciting is that there will be more to come from her as she wasn’t fully wound up. The big target is the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York next month, but a lot will depend on the ground.

If the race was being run today, I would have to pick her stablemate Easton Angel as the ground is so key to Mecca’s. That said, the conditions will probably mean both fillies won’t run, as they like differing surfaces, which makes things easier to me.

Easton Angel herself is due to run at Goodwood on Friday, so we’ll have to see how she comes out of that race anyway before committing to York.

The Qatar King George V Stakes will be ideal for Easton Angel. The big field, assured fast pace and track will all really suit her and she is definitely ready to step back up to Group Two level.

She only went down a neck to Marsha in a Listed race last time and I was delighted with that run. She bumped into a good one that day on her first start against older horses. But I think we can get revenge given a good strong pace, which means I can hold on to her a little longer.

I will probably be at Goodwood on Saturday as well. Glen Moss is entered in the Qatar Steward’s Cup but she probably won’t run if the ground is fast, while Perfect Pasture, who bolted up under me in Ireland on Saturday, is another entered.

It was great to win a valuable handicap at The Curragh for my old boss Mick Easterby, who won the Stewards’ Cup with Hoof It five years ago.

More immediately, there are two I like at York today.

Ninjago runs in the Sky Bet Dash Stakes for Paul Midgely, a trainer who has a knack of winning big sprints. This big field will really suit him, as will York, and Paul’s horses are running well.

The other to look out for is The Begum, who won by half the track at Ayr last time and Ralph Beckett’s horses are flying. He’s had five winners from his last 11 runners and I don’t mind getting down to 8st 9lb to ride her. She runs in the Sky Bet Supporting New Beginnings EBF Fillies' Stakes.

Of my other two at York, Corona Borealis, who runs in the Sky Bet Best Odds Guaranteed Stakes, ran well off an unsuitably slow pace at York last time, so ran better than that sixth place suggests.

Get Knotted appreciated dropping back to seven furlongs in the Richard Fahey's Column At sportinglife.com Stakes and has finished second and third at the track before.

Finally, look out for a video I did with British Champions Series, which sees me ride the Juddmonte International Stakes course at York. I rode with the headcam and mic and offered a commentary as I went round. It should come out pretty well. I am glad to help out as I am a big supporter of York and next month's Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival is one of the real highlights of the season.
