ANDY RAFFERTY, the former Hartlepool United goalkeeper, is Spennymoor’s latest recruit.
In a busy summer, Moors have also landed Graeme Armstrong, Jamie Chandler, Rob Ramshaw and Andrew Johnson.
They have also appointed Tommy Miller as assistant boss to Jason Ainsley and the former Hartlepool and Sunderland midfielder has also registered as a player.
Moors returned to pre-season training on Thursday and of Rafferty’s capture, Ainsley, said: “We’re thrilled to have signed Andrew on a two year deal.
“He was looking to relocate back to the North East and as soon as I heard this it was important that I showed an interest in him.
“Andy is a massive presence at 6 ft 6 in and, having played more than 50 Conference games, gives us the experience that we’ll need going into a tough season.
“With Dan Lowson and now Andy, we have two exceptional goalkeepers who I believe will bring each other’s game on tremendously and I look forward to working with him over the next two seasons.”
Rafferty, who left Pools for Dover in 2014 after five appearances at Victoria Park said: “I’m delighted to be a part of such an ambitious club.
“After hearing what the chairman and manager had to say and seeing the facilities it was an easy decision. I can’t wait to get started.”
