MIDDLESBROUGH hope for full houses at the Riverside most weeks next season, despite an increase in prices for those who did not take advantage of early bird prices.

North and South Stand adult season tickets at the Riverside will cost £570, averaging at around the £30 a game mark. The highest priced ticket will be an adult in the West Stand Upper, which is £646, while the East Stand Upper is £608. Season tickets for the Under-18s across the ground - which has a capacity of 34,742 are £200.

Compared to Premier League prices for the 2015/2016 season only Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were more expensive.

The cheapest season tickets for newly-promoted sides last season were £550 at AFC Bournemouth, £499 at Norwich City and £232 at Watford.

Here's what some fans had to say on social media about the price hike:

@RyanWyvill: "Cheapest adult price for a new adults season ticket at the premier league champions leicester is £395. How can boro try charge £570."

@Paulistapark: "Based on 2015/16 prices Boro's cheapest season ticket (£570) would be the second most expensive in the Premier League outside of London."

@TrevorOakley1: "Holly mother of god, I've just seen the season ticket prices for Boro. Isn't Middlesbrough one of the most impoverished places in UK?"

@GraemeBailey: "Middlesbrough announce some big season ticket hikes, cheapest price for a new season ticket holder a whopping £570! Surprising from @boro."

West Brom fan @BenHadlington said: "£640 for a Boro season ticket, sorry for ever moaning."

At Sunderland, who are preparing to play their tenth consecutive season in England's top division, adult season cards are available from £380, equating to £20 a game.

Top price tickets to watch Sam Allardyce's side cost £505.

SAFC supporters aged under 16 will pay £79, and those aged 16 to 22 are being charged £200 to sit in the Stadium of Light, which boasted attendances of more than 43,000 in the 2015/16 season.
