Pools keeper Konstantopoulos is sent to Coventry

DIMI Konstantopoulos yesterday finally completed his free-transfer switch to Coventry City - and Hartlepool United boss Danny Wilson will now turn his attentions to securing a new goalkeeper.

While Wilson this week signed Arran Lee-Barrett after his release from Coventry, he will also be seeking another new shot-stopper.

Pools' long-time goalkeeping deputy Jim Provett has yet to sign the new contract which was offered at the end of the season and it is believed the former player of the year is to leave.

Four clubs are interested in his services and the 24-year-old looks set to leave the North-East. His last Football League appearance for Pools was a 2-2 draw with Peterborough in March 2005. This season he only appeared in two Cup ties.

His exit would leave Wilson with only the untried and inexperienced Lee-Barrett for the new season in League One.

Liverpool's David Martin remains his top target, with a long-term loan deal likely.

Wilson was Martin's manager at MK Dons before he sold the England under-20 keeper to Anfield and he spoke highly of Martin when he impressed while on loan for Accrington Stanley against Pools this season.

Konstantopoulos has penned a three-year deal at Coventry and will fight it out with Andy Marshall for the number one spot.

He kept 25 clean sheets last season, including eight in a row and appeared 139 times for the club after moving from Portugal side Farense in 2003.

Sky Blues boss Iain Dowie, who dispatched Academy manager Steve Ogrizovic to cast an eye over his new signing last season, said: "He has played all of Hartlepool's league games and I have no doubt that Dimi was a key component in the side winning promotion. He is an honest professional who wants to better himself.''
