Spennymoor are hoping that new signing David Dowson will give them an energy boost at home to Kendal Town on Saturday.

The former Sunderland player joined Moors from neighbours Darlington in midweek, and he will probably start alongside Nathan Fisher this afternoon.

“David has got loads of energy, and he will make things happen for us,” said manager Jason Ainsley. “It is a massive plus to get him into our club, because he achieved a lot with Darlington. He’s a very fit lad, and I’ve had glowing reports about him – and of course we know what he’s capable of.”

Moors have had their last two games postponed, which means that they still have 19 games left to play in the First Division North.

“The ball is still in our court to win promotion, and I’m expecting a good run of form from now until the end of the season, both individually and collectively.

“The confidence of the lads has been a little low at home, and we’ve got to get our identity back. The pitches haven’t been good, but they’re the same for everybody. The lads have played very well in training, and now they need to transfer those performances on to the pitch today against Kendal.”

Striker Liam Henderson is missing because of suspension, while another striker, Gavin Cogdon, is struggling because of injury.”

In the Premier Division, Whitby can continue their climb away from relegation danger by taking points off Workington, while leaders Blyth are away to Ramsbottom.
