Spennymoor are off on their travels again in the FA Trophy when they go to Stourbridge in the last qualifying round on Saturday – and manager Jason Ainsley expects their toughest game of the season so far.

Stourbridge are one of the leading clubs in the Premier Division, and have also reached the first round proper of the FA Cup, and have former Wolves striker Karl Hawley banging in the goals up front.

“We are expecting our toughest game of the season against a team that is flying high.

“I will need eight or nine of my players to perform at the top of their game to come away with something but in saying that, it’s a game we’re very much looking forward to and we will go there full of confidence.

“The players have produced some very good performances away from home this season. We’re unbeaten away from home in all competitions and we want to continue that record, but like I’ve said, we need almost all of our players to be at their best.

“In terms of preparation, we will be adopting the same approach as we did in the last round at Evesham. And of course, we’ll have a good following of fans, who make a big difference. To see so many supporters making a long distance trip really gives the players a boost.”

Midfielder Shane Henry is suspended having been sent off in the last round at Evesham, while full back Stephen Capper is unavailable. Midfield general Scott Kerr is also doubtful with a hamstring injury.

This is the start of an important period of games for Moors, because they also have big league games coming up before Christmas against two clubs above them in the table, Warrington and Northwich Victoria.
