GATESHEAD’S poor run continued as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Macclesfield Town.
Malcolm Crosby’s side have now won just one of their last seven matches, and find themselves two points off the play-off places in the Vanarama National League.
Ryan Bowman failed to find the target with a first-half header for the Heed, but with Macclesfield creating a number of chances, Sam Russell was forced to produce a smart save to deny Tony Diagne.
Macclesfield scored the only goal of the game shortly before the hour mark, with Kristian Dennis slotting home after good approach play from Danny Rowe.
Gateshead: Russell, Baxter, Curtis, Allen (Johnson 46), Cranston, Clark, Ramsden, Phillips (McLaughlin 66), Marwood, Shaw (Mafuta 66), Bowman.
