RICHMOND Golf Club is proud of the achievements of its men’s team after a brilliant league double.

There have been a number of notable successes for Richmond over the years, but the current crop has built on previous achievements by winning the Yorkshire Second Division and Third Division titles.

Ryan Howe, Mike Henson and Chris Bradley won the Second Division championship at Wakefield and best on the day was Bradley after posting 142 (69,73).

That helped Richmond to a total of 439, beating Wheatley in to second place by seven shots.

And the same team won the Third Division championship at Cookridge Hall with a final score of 436, having swept away from the field by winning by 14 shots from their nearest rivals Selby (450).

Mike Henson won the prize for the best second round with his 70 and the prize for the winning 36 hole score was Bradley again with 143 (70, 73).

Richmond captain Adrian Brakenberry said: “Every player was absolutely superb; a real credit to our club, but special thanks must also go to our caddies, our supporters and sponsors, whose backing made such a difference.”

Club president Derek King said “The club is enormously proud of what the team have achieved and they have bought great recognition to Richmond Golf Club."

Richmond made their first appearance in the Team Championships starting in the Fifth Division. Since then they have made huge progress, with a team consisting of Ryan Howe, Henson, Bradley, Daniel Saunders and Gary Catt.
