STEWART DOWNING will make the first domestic start of his second spell with Middlesbrough in today's pre-season friendly at Doncaster Rovers.

Downing will feature in the starting line-up at the Keepmoat Stadium, having made a £5m move from West Ham earlier this summer.

The England international is expected to start in the 'number ten' role behind lone striker Bradley Fewster, with Lee Tomlin set to line up on the left-hand side.

Mustapha Carayol will start on the opposite flank, having missed all of last season through injury, with Adam Forshaw, who impressed on the recent training camp in Spain, partnering Grant Leadbitter at the base of midfield.

Doncaster name former Middlesbrough striker Curtis Main in their starting line-up.
