DURHAM will be wary of one who got away as they attempt to halt a run of three defeats when they entertain Leicestershire in the NatWest T20 Blast tonight.

While they include four Wearsiders in their own squad, it's another Sunderland lad, Ben Raine, who has been making an impact for the Foxes.

After coming through the Durham Academy, the 23-year-old all-rounder made only one first-class appearance, against Sri Lanka A, before being released.

He was seen mainly as a batsman by a county who have had no difficulty in producing seamers, but it is his bowling which has taken off at Leicester.

He was called on to bowl the final over when Yorkshire needed five to win last Friday and with one still required off the final ball he had Adil Rashid lbw to secure a tie.

Raine, who spent last winter in New Zealand, has 38 championship wickets this season and credits team-mate Charlie Shreck with helping to take his bowling to unforeseen levels.

Durham have slipped from top of the group to sixth, two points and three places behind their visitors. It remains a wide open group, but Durham will need three wins from five to have a chance of reaching the last eight.

They won three of their first four games, the exception being the visit to Grace Road, where they struggled to 123 for five. The Foxes cruised home by eight wickets with 4.3 overs to spare.

With Paul Coughlin injured they have added Jamie Harrison to the squad and could select Graham Clark to give him more experience.

Clark is the likely replacement for Calum MacLeod, who will be playing his final match before joining Scotland for the ICC World T20 qualifiers. They begin their preparations with a warm-up game against Namibia in Edinburgh on Monday.

Leicestershire will be harder hit as Rob Taylor is required by Scotland and the O'Brien brothers, Niall and Kevin, by Ireland.

Taylor throttled Durham with one for 15 in four overs at Grace Road and took four for 11 on his last T20 appearance at Chester-le-Street two years ago.

Despite having the floodlights available, Durham have had to revert to a 5.30 start this evening as the visitors have a home match against Birmingham Bears tomorrow afternoon.
