Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley is in two minds whether to give some of his fringe players an outing when they play Burscough in their final league game of the season at the Brewery Field today.

In terms of league position, the game is meaningless because Moors can’t improve on their fifth place, but Ainsley has to decide on whether he wants to play his strongest available team today, with the much anticipated play off semi final coming up next week against Darlington.

“I’m in two minds at the moment,” he said. “There are several lads on the fringe of the team who deserve to have a place in the starting line up. Do I play them and save some of the other lads for Wednesday? I want to utilize everybody who’s been around.

“But on the other hand, we have drawn our last two matches, so should I play my strongest team and try to build up some momentum for Wednesday by winning today’s game?”

One thing is for definite, Gareth Young will play in goal today, because Adam McHugh picked up a three match ban for his dismissal at New Mills in the victory there.

Midfielder Anthony Peacock could start today before he starts a three match ban for being sent off against Lancaster, while another midfielder, Lewis Dodds, has a foot injury.

Meanwhile, Ainsley admits that the whole squad is buzzing at the prospect of playing Quakers again.

“Everybody is in a great mood, and really looking forward to the game,” he said.
