Finally a game to talk about and, more importantly, three points.

I thought we started the game really well and put a lot of pressure on Ossett Albion from the first whistle. We created a few half chances as well as playing most of the game in their half. As the first half went on we created some better chances and had a goal disallowed for offside, Carty trying to claim it would have been his goal but having bounced off the post, then the goalkeeper, then the defender, then back off the goal keeper I'm not sure he would have got it.

Not long afterwards Army put us 1-0 up taking his goal brilliantly. Army was a bit of a thorn in my side last season for Whitby so it's lovely to be on the same side as him this season.

Second half we were a lot more in control and passed the ball around well. Ossett were difficult to break down so being patient with the ball in certain areas helped us draw them out a little. Tommo got the second and made it look easy, a lot of players including myself would have either shanked that one or blazed it over the houses, that's why he's regarded as one of the best players in the area because he makes difficult things look simple.

We closed the game out really well and it was a great three points for everyone involved at the club.

Special mention for Peter who pulled off two or three outstanding saves, and Chris Hunter who broke his nose after running into Whitey’s elbow. Whitey was really concerned that Chris is getting married next week with two black eyes and was full of support and care. I think his words or word was: “So?”

Saturday is a huge game for us and we can't wait for it. It will be a really hard game, but we go into it full of confidence and believing we are capable of getting something. Let's hope the weather is good to us and everyone enjoys a good game.
