RONNIE MOORE admits he was humbled by the response afforded to him on his return to Tranmere.

The Hartlepool United boss was back at Prenton Park for the first time since he was axed towards the end of last season amid FA charges related to betting irregularities.

He laughed off jokes sent his way, including a pile of betting slips handed to him, and the travelling supporters chanted “Ronnie Moore, he bets when he wants”, to which he responded with a wave.

Moore admitted: "It was nice to be back here, the response was brilliant and I thank the home fans for that.

"You sometimes worry but it was fantastic and it was humbling. I was a little bit worried but it was water off a ducks back.

"Our support was fantastic - they have to improve their singing mind - but apart from that they were brilliant!

"The (Tranmere) fans realised the situation and what had happened. It was just a pity we didn't win.

"It is a point gained but I am disappointed because I thought we had the better chances and were the better team on the day.

"If we keep playing like that we will be okay.

"That performance has to give us the belief and if we play like that more times than not then you will win more than you lose.

"That will benefit us but it would have been nice to win and get the gap down.

"There are still enough games but we have to start scoring goals."

Moore could land Marvin Morgan from Plymouth. The striker has been told he can leave and he has a partner and young baby living on Tyneside.

"I am looking for the right one but we'll have to wait,’’ he said.

" I have asked if we can let Aaron Tshibola stay until the end of the season.

"The boy wants to play and hopefully we'll get confirmation on Monday to say he is alright.’’
