Spennymoor Town manager Jason Ainsley is hoping that the effects of a sickness bug will wear off before they go to Ossett Albion today.

Moors’ preparations for their home win over Kendal were hit during the week when striker Gavin Cogdon and midfielder Lewis Dodds both cried off in the hours before the game, and during the game Shane Henry also felt ill. Since Tuesday night, winger Anthony Peacock has also gone down ill, so Ainsley is crossing his fingers that no other players will be affected.

“We’re decimated with illness at present, it’s really hit the club hard.

“Shane played when he shouldn't have done on Tuesday as he was really ill but put in a fantastic shift and scored our first goal.

“I’m not sure of the state of the lads yet although Peaks has been laid low, so it will be a head count on Saturday. It's a game we need to pick up maximum points from but we know it will be a tough game.”

Defender and skipper Chris Mason will probably return alongside six goal Joe Tait in the centre of defence, as he was working in midweek.

One plus for Moors was that when Liam Henderson was pushed into service as a late sub on Tuesday, he didn’t suffer any after effects of his injury.

Moors go into the game in ninth place in the table, and if results go in their favour today, then they could climb to sixth in the table, just a point behind fifth placed Scarborough.
