Kenny Johnson remains under observation in hospital after being knocked unconscious in a heavy fall at Sedgefield on Thursday.
Johnson was partnering Lord Brendy, trained by his father Bob, in the Durham Army Cadet Force Novices' Limited Handicap Chase when his mount came to grief at the first fence in the home straight with over a circuit still to run and had to be taken to hospital by air ambulance.
Initial tests suggested the jockey had escaped serious injury, but he remains at James Cook University Hospital.
He said: "I'm feeling better than yesterday, but I'm still in as I have a constant headache and the doctors don't really know why.
"I've also got blurred vision in one eye and a sore shoulder, so I'm staying in to get checked out.
"The scans are looking clear the moment, but they're keen to keep an eye on me and see what's going on.''
