YORKSHIRE rounded off their Royal London One-Day Cup group campaign in style last night against Hampshire, to set up a home quarter-final against Durham next week.

With his best bowling figures in List A cricket, Adil Rashid was the Vikings hero under floodlights at the Ageas Bowl.

He finished with five for 33 to help skittle Hampshire out for 172, before the Vikings easily chased down their victory to win by six wickets with more than 20 overs to spare.

Yorkshire were already assured of a place in the knockout stages, but there was still plenty to play for with top spot in Group A and home advantage in the last eight up for grabs.

Only a win would guarantee first place, and things never looked in doubt from the moment they won the toss against a depleted Hampshire side, who rested a number of key players ahead of their appearance at tomorrow’s NatWest T20 Blast finals day.

Tim Bresnan and Jack Brooks both struck in their opening overs to reduce Hampshire to five for two, and despite the best efforts of Jimmy Adams, who finished on 91 not out, the die was cast.

Rashid was soon in on the act. He trapped Joe Gatting lbw for 13 when he shouldered arms, and after two more wickets fell to leave Hampshire on 161 for six, the 26 year-old blew Hampshire’s tail away. wickets for only six runs to wrap up a first five-wicket haul in this form of the game.

The 26 year-old was given a standing ovation by a sizeable crowd as he left the pitch, before Yorkshire’s top order set about chasing down 173.

After Adam Lyth was dismissed for 21 by James Tomlinson, Kane Williamson initially led the way.

However, after he had effortlessly made his way to 33 off only 24 balls, two wickets in as many balls for debutant Tom Barber gave Yorkshire a scare.

Williamson and captain Andrew Gale (0) were the men to go to leave the Vikings on 81 for three, but thanks to Alex Lees and Jonny Bairstow, there were no further alarms.

They fluently added 78 for the fourth wicket, and by the time Lees was ousted by Tomlinson for a superb 61, Yorkshire only needed 14 more runs to win, with Bairstow hitting the winning runs to close on 45 not out.

The victory was Yorkshire sixth win in eight matches in Group A, and they will now face Durham at Headingley for a place in the semi-finals after they finished fourth in Group B.
