RICHARD KILTY claimed a Commonwealth Games silver medal this evening as he helped England's 4x100m relay squad finish second behind a Usain-Bolt inspired Jamaica.

Kilty ran a strong third leg as England's quartet briefly theatened to cause a huge upset at a rain-drenched Hampden Park.

The Teessider, who failed to qualify for the final of the individual 100m, passed the baton to Danny Talbot with England right alongside their Jamaican rivals in pole position.

However, Bolt powered away in the final leg to ensure Jamaica would take the gold medal and set a new Commonwealth Games record in the process.

Talbot held off Trinidad & Tobago's Richard Thompson to ensure England would claim silver in the final race of the track programme at Glasgow 2014.

Kiltyy can add the relay medal to the World Indoor title he claimed in March, and will hope to win more silverware when he teams up with the rest of the relay squad again at the European Championships next month.
