RIPON'S Jack Laugher claimed his second Commonwealth Games gold medal this morning as he teamed up with Chris Mears to win the synchronised 3m springboard event.

Having won 1m springboard gold on Wednesday, Laugher claimed a silver in his preferred event, the 3m springboard, yesterday evening.

But the 19-year-old returned to the winning trail this morning as both he and Mears performed superbly in the final of the synchro event.

Performing the most difficult series of dives in the field, the duo, who are house-mates and training partners at the City of Leeds club, produced a near flawless display of diving.

Their final total of 431.94 was almost 30 points clear of their closest rivals, Australia's Matthew Mitcham and Grant Nel, who claimed silver ahead of the other British duo, Nick Robinson-Baker and Freddie Woodward.
