JADE JONES will compete in the final of the Commonwealth Games 1,500m T54 event on Thursday night after successfully making it through this morning's qualifying round.
With the top three from each heat making it into the final, Middlesbrough's Jones produced an excellent tactical race to finish in third position and go through.
Her time of 3:53.37 suggests she should be competitive in the final, although she will almost certainly have to produce a lifetime best to win a medal, with England's Paralympic champion Shelly Woods, who won the other heat, favourite to claim gold.
"It went really well," said Jones. "The aim with my coach was to do enough to make the final and that meant finishing in the top three. That was the aim - and I did it."
