RAIN restricted the afternoon’s play to 11.4 overs, during which Durham lost Mark Stoneman for 21 in advancing cautiously to 50 for one.
On his return to the Yorkshire side, Tim Bresnan did not impress in his two overs before lunch nor immediately afterwards.
But he suddenly found some extra bounce and a little away movement to have Stoneman caught behind.
He also found the edge of Scott Borthwick’s bat, but the ball reached Adam Lyth at second slip on the half volley. The first stoppage, at 2.20, was for light drizzle and kept the players off for 35 minutes. But the resumption lasted only five balls before heavier rain arrived with Keaton Jennings on 25 and Borthwick on two.
