SWANSEA CITY are finally ready to confirm the arrival of Marvin Emnes in a £1m-plus deal from Middlesbrough today.

Everything has been in place for weeks but the Swans were keen to wait until the transfer window had officially opened before announcing the signing.

Swansea should officially unveil the 26-year-old Dutchman as manager Garry Monk’s latest signing – and Boro are looking to reinvest the cash, believed to be around £1.4m, quickly.

Boro have so far struggled to bring in new players. When the Middlesbrough squad returned to pre-season training on Monday, without Emnes, there was a familiar look to the squad, with no new signings arriving.

Goalkeeper Tomas Mejias, who was on loan at the Riverside last season, has signed from Real Madrid on a permanent basis, while Greek shot-stopper Dimi Konstantopoulos has penned a new contract.

Head coach Aitor Karanka is aware of work going on to get deals done and it has emerged Boro have made fresh contact with Huddersfield to discuss the availability of midfielder Adam Clayton.

The 25-year-old has been with the Terriers since leaving Leeds United two years ago and he started his career with Manchester City. There are suggestions Boro have also tried to engineer a swap deal for the player.

Karanka has learned of failed bids to land Spanish right-back Juanfran as well as strikers Lewis Grabban, who opted for Norwich City, and Adam Le Fondre, who chose Cardiff City. Sunderland’s Danny Graham remains on the radar.
