NEWCASTLE UNITED have confirmed the signing of promising Spanish striker Ayoze Perez.
The 20-year-old striker is understood to have cost £1.6m and has signed a long term contract at St James' Park following his switch from Tenerfie.
Ayoze, born on the Canary Island, joined the youth set up at his local club in 2004. Last season, he progressed to the first team, playing in the Segunda Division, in Spain's second tier.
He scored 16 goals in 34 appearances and that caught the eye of Newcastle and Portuguese club Porto.
Ayoze, as he is known, said: "I'm very happy to be here to start this new adventure. I'm very eager for it to begin and I'm very pleased to play for this magnificent club. Any football player would be interested in playing for such a club and I will earn my position to get in the first team."
