The Northern Echo: Yorkshire's openers pile on the runs Yorkshire's openers pile on the runs

ADAM Lyth and Alex Lees have remained unbeaten through the morning session of day three to add 337 for the first wicket in Yorkshire’s second innings against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.

Yorkshire have reached lunch after 111 overs with a lead of 222 with four sessions left in the match.

They have shared the highest ever opening partnership recorded against Northants, with Lyth reaching 182 not out and Lees 131 not out. Lyth even brought up the 300-stand with a six over long-off against Matt Spriegel’s off-spin.

The only thing Yorkshire have got to be mindful of is the weather because there is a lot of talk of rain later today and tomorrow.
