Hartlepool's Graeme Storm has turned on the style at Walton Heath to qualify for next month's US Open.

Storm found his feet with two solid rounds of golf in Surrey yesterday to secure one of the 14 spots on offer at qualifying for the second major of the year.

Now the 36-year-old is heading for North Carolina on June 12 to appear alongside the greatest names in golf at Pinehurst.

Storm followed up his opening round four under 68 with a 71 to finish on 139 over the 36-holes yesterday.

The performance was enough to earn him qualification along with Shane Lowry, Niclas Fasth, Simon Griffiths, Garth Mulroy, Max Keiffer, Shiv Kapur, Chris Doak and Brooks Koepka.

It will be the second time that Storm has played in the US Open and he will look to do better than in 2006 at Winged Foot when he missed the cut.

Storm said: "I have played brilliantly over the last couple of weeks and today it all came together. I'm so pleased. It will be an unbelievable experience and I can't wait to go out there.

"Everything came together and that's what I've been threatening to do over the last few weeks. I'm just so pleased it all happened as it did today."

Storm made the cut at the BMW PGA Championship only to fall out of contention on the final day with a 79.
