NEWCASTLE UNITED will host Spanish side Real Sociedad at St. James' Park in their final pre-season friendly of the summer.

The La Liga outfit will visit Tyneside on Sunday, August 10 (1.30pm ko), for what will be the Magpies' only home fixture of the pre-season campaign.

As well as away games on British soil against Oldham Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield United, Newcastle will also travel to New Zealand and Germany, where they will play two matches on each tour.

Their preparations for the 2014-15 season will then be completed by the visit of Real Sociedad, who finished seventh in La Liga last season as well as playing in the Champions League.

Sociedad boast ex-Arsenal forward Carlos Vela and former Real Madrid man Sergio Canales among their ranks.

Newcastle have played Real Sociedad twice before, with both games coming on an end of season tour to Spain in May 1924, two weeks after they had beaten Aston Villa at Wembley to win the FA Cup.

Ticket details for the fixture will be released in due course.
