TWO showers and tail-end resistance combined to ease Durham’s worries on the final morning as they lost only one wicket to reach lunch on 386 for nine, 203 behind.
Jamie Harrison and Graham Onions were largely untroubled in the 55 minutes before the rain arrived, concentrating on survival as they added 18 runs in 16 overs.
Yorkshire belatedly brought on Liam Plunkett and his first ball was driven through mid-on for four by Harrison, after which rain prompted the batsmen to scamper off while the visitors departed reluctantly.
Nine overs were lost before the resumption, but only four overs were bowled before another shower prompted an early lunch.
Harrison departed in that time, wafting loosely across the line of an off break from Kane Williamson which bowled him for 31. Onions is unbeaten on 20.
