JACK BARMBY’S fifth goal of the season, meant Hartlepool United’s away programme in League One ended with a 1-1 draw at Plymouth.
For the longest trek of the season, Pools made the news before the game with their travelling contingent dressed up as Thunderbirds puppets, following their tradition of getting dressed up for their last away game of the campaign.
And, they had Barmby in International Rescue mode to salvage a point.
With on loan Sunderland midfielder Connor Oliver impressing on his Football League debut, there was plenty of mobility to the side.
Pools trailed to a 30th minute goal from Jason Banton, the attacker waltzing through the Pools defence to curl across Scott Flinders into the far corner.
However, after two shots were kept out by the keeper, Barmby got on the scoresheet.
After his goal secured a safety-clinching win over Morecambe at Victoria Park on Monday, the on loan Manchester United forward, finished again in style.
Latching onto a shot headed back pass from right-back Durrell Berry, he lifted his finish over keeper Jake Cole in style.
And Pools almost won it when Jack Compton’s late, left-footed drive hit the post with Cole beaten.
But, at the other end, a free-kick from Conor Hourihane in injury time came back off Scott Flinders’ post.
