YORK CITY need two points from their final two matches to guarantee a place in the League Two play-offs after Keith Lowe's first-half strike secured a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Bury.

The victory, which featured the Minstermen's ninth clean sheet in the last ten matches, extended the club's unbeaten run to 15 games and means they only have to beat either Newport or Scunthorpe to guarantee finishing in the top seven.

With a five-point cushion to eighth position, they will not even have to do that if their only play-off rivals, Oxford United, fail to win both of their remaining games.

York scored the only goal of today's game in the fifth minute as Lowe turned in Will Hayhurst's corner at the near post.

John McCombe cleared a Hallam Hope effort off the line and Tom Soares blasted over from close range as Bury pushed for an equaliser, but the visitors finished with ten men after Daniel Nardiello was given his marching orders with nine minutes left.
