Final Score: Newcastle United 1 Swansea City 2

NEWCASTLE UNITED’S losing streak stretched to five games after Wilfried Bony’s stoppage time penalty earned Swansea City a vital 2-1 win at St James’ Park.

Shola Ameobi had given the Magpies a first half lead, but Bony in either half to earn the Swans three points on Tyneside.

Gary Monk’s men started well without causing any real threat on Tim Krul’s goal, while Newcastle saw plenty of possession but failed to convert it into anything meaningful.

As early as the tenth minute, the home crowd showed their frustration as the Magpies were forced backwards with Swansea pushing up.

Newcastle were forced to make an early change when Mathieu Debuchy replaced the injured Papiss Cisse, which reverted Pardew’s men back to a 4-4-2 formation.

The switch seemed to give the Tynesiders more purpose and in the 23rd minute they broke the deadlock even if the visitors had been the better side.

Shola Ameobi, recently drafted back into the starting line-up, flicked on to Luuk de Jong, who returned the ball to the striker to finish past Michel Vorm.

The visitors equalised on the stroke of half time when Bony headed in Ben Davies corner kick, before the striker kept his cool to slot the ball past Krul from the spot after Marvin Emnes was fouled by Chieck Tiote.
