TRUE STORY looked a horse with a bright future when landing the Listed ebm-papst Feilden Stakes at Newmarket in good style yesterday.

Saeed bin Suroor’s Manduro colt arrived at HQ boasting fancy entries in the Qipco 2000 Guineas, the Betfred Dante Stakes and the Investec Derby, and could hardly have been more impressive in beating the well-touted Obliterator by seven lengths.

Silvestre de Sousa had the 5-2 chance positioned in midfield and although he appeared to come off the bridle for a split second when the pace began to quicken, he got better the further he went.

Meanwhile, Michael Bell is looking forward to seeing how potential Derby aspirant Raven Ridge fares upon his return to action at Newmarket today.

The son of 2002 Derby hero High Chaparral opened his account in impressive fashion at Newcastle in October following an encouraging debut third at Doncaster a month earlier. Bell is, however, keen to put any talk of a Classic bid on hold until he sees how Raven Ridge gets on today.
