PINEAU De Re has won the Grand National at Aintree at odds of 25-1 - as predicted in the Pinstickers Guide in today's Northern Echo.
Trained by Dr Richard Newland, and ridden by Leighton Aspell, Pineau De Re was well positioned in the middle of the pack during a typically hectic race.
After long-time leader Across The Bay was effectively taken out by a loose horse, Pineau De Re fought out a thrilling finish with Balthazar King and Double Seven.
He looked like the winner two or three fences out, and held on strongly after clearing the last.
Balthazar King (14-1) finished second, with Double Seven (10-1) taking third and Alvarado (33-1) coming through strongly to be fourth.
