TIM KRUL is determined to play his way into Louis Van Gaal’s plans by continuing his good form for Newcastle United.

Krul was named in Holland’s preliminary squad to face France in an international friendly tonight, but did not make the final cut, with goalkeepers Jasper Cillessen and Jeroen Zoet preferred to the 25-year-old, the two expected to go head to head for the right to challenge Maarten Stekelenberg for his number one jersey.

The Magpies stopper has pledged to keep on fighting in his quest to represent Holland in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

“I’ll keep fighting to the end,” said Krul, after Newcastle’s 4-1 win over Hull City on Saturday. “I’ve got ten games left to show them that I’m ready and I think the manager knows what he gets from me. I’m going to do my best to show him that I should be on that plane to Brazil.

“He hasn’t phoned to explain his decision, but I don’t think the manager has to do that. We’ve had a bad month and I think we have to be honest about that and like I say we have turned it around with two great wins and the only thing I can do now is impress in the next ten games.

“Another good run with Newcastle can help my chances of going to the World Cup, because of course the manager looks at that. He said in his press conference that some players have obviously had a bad couple of months and he would go from now.

“All I can do is look forward and try to get back into the squad.”

Domestically, Krul has been one of Newcastle’s stronger performers this season, with a man of the match appearance in the 1-0 win against Tottenham a high point.

During that spell, Newcastle looked odds-on to qualify for a Europa League appearance but a mid-season slump, particularly at home has jeopardised that.

However, the Magpies have now two consecutive victories under their belts, and Krul feels that the partnership of Luuk de Jong and Loic Remy is starting to bear fruit.

“It was more than one player on Saturday,” said Krul. “I think Luuk de Jong and Loic (Remy), that partnership is really starting to gel now and Vurnon (Anita) and Chiek (Tiote) crafting and tackling was vital for us in the middle of the park.

“I’m really pleased with the way we played and hopefully it can continue. It’s a bit frustrating we don’t have a game next weekend, but we’ll go away work hard and come back fresh ready for Fulham.”

On-loan Remy has been tipped to make his loan from Queen’s Park Rangers a permanent move in the summer, and Krul would happily receive the Frenchman if the signing were to go through.

“To be honest he is enjoying his time here and I think we make him feel at home, give him confidence and give him the right balls to score,” said Krul. “He’s a fantastic striker, we’ve known from the start and I’m pleased he has been part of the squad this season and that’s the only thing we can control at the moment.”
