AIMEE WILLMOTT’S sparkling winter form continued as she set three personal best times at the Flanders Cup in Antwerp.
The Middlesbrough ASC swimmer, who will be targeting a medal at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, broke her own English record as she triumphed in her strongest event, the 400m individual medley, beating world champion Katinka Hosszu and British rival Hannah Miley in the process.
Willmott also knocked two-and-a-half seconds off her lifetime best in the 200m individual medley as she touched in 2:10.87 to claim another victory over Hungarian Hosszu.
To complete a notable weekend, the 20-year-old then notched up another lifetime best as she claimed second place in the 400m freestyle.
Hartlepool’s Jemma Lowe was also in action in Antwerp, finishing second in the final of the 100m butterfly.
Willmott has spent the winter combining altitude training in Spain with strength and conditioning work at Teesside University.
She will compete in the Commonwealth trials in Glasgow in April, and is expected to target the 200m and 400m individual medley, 200m butterfly and 200m and 400m freestyle.
