SUNDERLAND have recalled Connor Wickham from his loan spell at Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
Wickham has been in excellent form this season, scoring eight goals in ten games despite the Owls' struggles near the foot of the Championship table.
The striker was due to make the final appearance of his loan spell tomorrow night, but will instead return to Wearside and be eligible for Sunderland's game with Stoke City on Wednesday.
Wickham will join Steven Fletcher and Jozy Altidore on Wearside, with Gustavo Poyet hoping to add another forward to his ranks before the closure of the transfer window.
Talks with Internacional over Ignacio Scocco remain ongoing, with the Argentinian closing in on a move to Wearside.
Sunderland officials are close to agreeing a deal worth around £5m, although there are financial technicalities still to be resolved which relate to money that Internacional owe to Scocco's former employers.
